The New Mexico Child Safety Seat Distribution Program provides education and instruction on child safety seat use and installation at hospitals and healthcare facilities statewide. The program also allows for distribution of free or reduced-cost car seats and booster seats to low-income families who meet program requirements.
National Child Passenger Safety Certification TrainingSafer offers a variety of training related to child passenger safety. The National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training Program is a 32-hour course offered several times throughout the year for child passenger safety advocates. Upon completion of this course, students are certified as child passenger safety technicians through the NHTSA and Safe Kids Worldwide. The IPRC provides traffic safety and injury prevention material including brochures, posters, and promotional items to traffic safety advocates throughout the state. As an educational service, the IPRC stocks material relating to injury prevention topics such as DWI prevention, occupant protection, and graduated teen licensing. Representatives from the traffic safety sector, including law enforcement, educators, parents, and other injury prevention advocates, regularly request items from the IPRC.
